Project Management Concepts
Introduction
This report explains how the various Project Management concepts could be applied to a project and within an organization to achieve the project’s success. For this report, I have selected a running project of my organization that is the implementation of an electronic system such as software for maintaining and managing the activities after the admission of a patient and till his or her discharge. This project is selected by my organization to replace the involvement of human resource and bring transparency in the whole system as well as the improvement in the organizational efficiency and quality of the services. For this project, my organization has selected six months and has allotted $50,000.
Concepts of Project Management
The meaning of project management is related to the coordination and management of the individuals that are used to the meet or achieve a goal or objective. The concept of the project refers to the applicability of the skills, techniques, and tools towards an activity for meeting the requirements of an assigned project (Kerzner, 2013). Project management includes project related planning, project scheduling and controlling each aspect of the project in a combined manner to ensure the success of the project (Mubarak, 2010). In the regard of a project, there are three basic concepts that are mainly working to achieve the successful completion of a project by the project team. These concepts are:
· Project processes
· Project life cycles
· Project management systems
Applicability of Project Management Concepts in A Project
Project management process
This is also applicable to the above-defined project. This is because that the project of an electronic system needs proper planning and implementation process. In this context, the concept of project management process may be implemented in the following manner:
Planning: This phase will help the project team of selected project to carry out effective planning for the electronic project at the beginning of the project and then motivates to make detail planning of the selection of right people, right resources, project methodologies as well as the supporting tools (Kerzner, 2013). With the help of this, the project team may ensure the delivery of the project ob budget and on time with required quality standards.
Control: This phase can be implemented to control the project’s scope; project’s cost as well as the related issues. With the help of this phase, the project team can be able to manage the time of each task, benefits, and risks of the project (Lessard & Lessard, 2007).
Team management: With the help of this phase, the project manager can make a responsible project team and manage them in a proper manner. This phase of the project management process...
