Teamwork is necessary in every industry or the organizations as an organization succeed with the help of and with the efforts of a number of people working in the organizations. Here, an effort has been made to summarise the contents of chapter 7 and chapter 8 of Organizational Behaviour by John Schermerhorn 11th edition. The two chapters discuss about Teams in Organizations and Teamwork and Team Performance. Both the chapters sheds the light on what kinds of the teams exist in the organization and how they perform their respective work. The major and the main part of the topic is indulged in chapter 7 which implies teams in organization and the associating part is in chapter 8 which focuses on the teamwork and team performance.
Chapter 7 focuses on the teams in the organization, in the business environment the organizations forms the teams to carry out several work and several activities in the business environment. According to Schermerhorn (1991), the team is defined as a group of people that are collectively working together for the achievement of common goal. In this chapter it is been discussed that how the team supports the organization by improving the performance of the employees. Team is considered as a collective setup which helps in garnering and enhancing the skills of the every team members. The teams are formed in the organization for the matter of serving different purposes, in the organizations there are several different types of work that are carried on. The organization tend to form the specific teams for the certain activities. The organizations formulate the team for certain purposes which includes forming the team for recommendation, these teams are formed to recommend things or the ideas for the special activities these teams are debarred after the certain activities.
