Case Study You can choose one of the following case studies to complete your assignments or you may wish to discuss another option with your Assessor. The templates for the document will be provided by your trainer. Formal Dinner Party · You and your business partner own a catering company. You have been employed to cater for a formal dinner party for 10 people in the client’s home as a special New Year's Eve celebration. · No expense will be spared. You will be cooking an elaborate 6 course meal including appetizers and a palate refresher between entree and dessert. There will be a cheese course and fine wines will be chosen to match each course. · You are responsible for the entire event including food, drink, wait staff and entertainment. You may even need to hire some table ware and accessories to make the occasion really special. Overseas Holiday 1. You have recently joined a boutique travel agency and, along with another new person, you have been asked to put together a small group trip overseas for Skiing in the USA. 1. It will be a small guided group, with 1 guide and 12 participants (no children). 1. The expected duration is 3 weeks. 1. The idea is to make it a premium experience with no expense spared. 1. This is the first time your company has offered skiing trips to the USA so you will need to research and contract suppliers. Small Kitchen Renovation · You and your business partner own a kitchen renovation company. You have been contracted by a client to renovate their kitchen, it is very old and needs to be gutted and refitted. · Your client has a budget of $30,000 including appliances. · You will need to provide alternate cooking facilities for the client whilst the renovation in underway. As part of your initial assessment of this project, you prepare a project scope plan using the template in Appendix A. 1. The objective of the project is to deliver a well organized dinner event for the New Year celebration. The project required to be accomplished within the allocated budget.

The goal of the project is to make proper arrangements for the dinner party. The requirements of the project is to arrange required manpower to prepare the foods, manpower to serve foods to the guests, utensils for preparing foods, cutleries for serving foods and drinks, dining table along with chairs for serving guests with the food.

Part 2: Develop a Project Plan
1. You need to consult with the project team when planning the project. List 4 aspects on which you
would consult the project team including who you would consult.
For the planning of the dinner party in New Year eve, many things need to be considered, however, the four major aspects that is needed to be considered are:
· Picking the theme of the party, because it is a great way to make things exciting for the party. The theme of the party includes the dinner menu, kind of games that can be played during the party session, the use of signature cocktails for guests and many more other special features can be a nice theme for the party.
· The second aspect is planning the menu in proper manner, where the inclusion of appetizers, entrees side dishes with number of varieties in menu, such as special menu for the vegetarians should be there which will help in attracting the guests.
· The third aspect is choosing the right alcoholic cocktail or beverage for the guests to match the occasion and also it must be ensured that the right proportion of drinks is mixed in order to keep the guests in stable condition during the party. It is also important that along with alcoholic drinks, non alcoholic drinks must be there because there will be guests who avoid alcohols.
· The fourth aspect is decorating the area in proper manner, where a more formal theme must be included, such as elegant wine glasses, tall candles, beautiful flowers and the plates. The lightening of the rooms must be done in a proper manner so that it creates the ambience of the area. Hence these are the aspects that needed to be considered during the party event.
2. What legislation will you need to be aware of when undertaking the project? Give two examples.
Any type of project management requires certain legislative obligations, which they need to follow. The legislation that required to be followed are:
· Maintaining the hygiene and safety of the foods and drinks served during the party.
· Adhering to the contract obligation, it is necessary for the project manager to complete all the criteria cited during the contract preparation.
