1. Introduction
It is the responsibility of the organisations to ensure that the strategies are implemented by them and at the same time these are controlled in order to ensure the smooth operations of the organisation in a given comparative business market. Management control is established through the implementation of different strategies that implement the development of rules and regulations and the enforcement of management decisions to ensure the sustainability of an organisation.
Opportunities provided by an efficient management function and control decisions allowed them to implement sustainability in their operations in a long run. Management control also provides the ability to an organisation to ensure that innovation and creativity are practised and at the same time the issue is evident with the management as well as an employee are reduced. Implementation of new technologies and processes are also easily adopted by organisations to the implementation of a sustainable management control initiative (Wijethilake, Munir & Appuhami, 2017).
This report is based on the essence of management control functions that are implemented within the context of Sydney Trains and their impact on the business to engage into further recommendations for improvement in the control.
2. Background of Sydney Trains and its Operations
2.1 Background
Sydney Trains began its operation in 2013 and they were developed in Sydney under the ownership of transport for New South Wales. They are found to operate around 170 stations and have a route 813 km system length. Sydney Trains develop advanced trains that are similar to that of the metro trains and provide first-class services to its passengers (Tsai, Mulley & Clifton, 2014). The quality of services offered by the Sydney Trains have continued to improve since its incorporation and then have significantly improved the overall structure and operations through different changes in networking systems and the implementation of advanced management strategies.
2.2 Operations
Sydney Trains have been found to operate eight different lines that connect different areas of Sydney to one another thereby providing the passengers with a convenient mode of transportation that is fast and reliable. · Sydney Trains are found to implement different leadership styles that are based on the current market conditions and the fluctuations in the economic system of the country. They are found to mitigate the issues systematically and fast in order to ensure smoothness in their operations.
    · Provision of authority in management has been one of the primary issues that are found in the context of the Sydney Trains, which are considered as being a significant weakness for them. This significantly reduces their sustainability while operating in Sydney.
