Task Details: Students are to research and identify three different approaches to strategic management, and compare and contrast them, particularly focusing on suggested benefits, implementation issues and limitations. Students should include “Sustainable approach” as one of three approaches. Students should identify at least one organisation where each approach has been implemented, and evaluate the success of the approach. Students should draw some supported conclusions as to the viability of each approach, and present their research, analysis and conclusions in a professionally presented report.

1. Introduction
The concept of strategic management in the simplest form can be defined as the tool with which the organisation manages its resources in an effective manager. Strategic management deals with several tools ensure the growth of the company. Some of the areas that come under strategic management are setting up of the clear objectives, the proper analysing of the competitive market along with the internal environment of the organisation. The strategic management tool deals with the formation of the business strategy for the organisations based on the present and probable future condition. While dealing with strategic management there are several theories and approaches.
This assignment has focused on the three approaches of the strategic management to deepen the understanding of the concept. The three approaches that are focused in this assignment are sustainable approach, hierarchical approach and resource based view. The detailed discussion of the three approaches is done in this assignment. The benefits of the three approaches in the business and their limitations are also highlighted in this assignment. Lastly, the organisation is identified for each of the three approaches who employed these approaches in their strategic management. The impact of using such approaches is mentioned as well.
2. Sustainable approach

While dealing with the sustainable approach of managing the management takes up not only account for the present scenario of the market but the future perspective is also taken under consideration. The main purpose served by this approach is to achieve profit by maintaining economic equity, social equality by appropriate usage of the natural resources.
2.1 History
It was during the industrial revolution that was taking place all over the world in the 19th century when the first idea of the sustainable approach of managing the business came into existence. It was in the latter half of the 19th century the impact of the industrial revolution in the environment was stated to be noticed by the people. The effect of the degradation of the environmental condition of the country, which directly affected the life of the people, became a source of concern for the organisations. It was during that time various social and ecological crises happened which shook the base of the company and its financial stability.
The bank crisis of America in the year 1907, the financial crisis of 1930’s, in the year 1982 the debt of the developing countries are some of the examples of social crises that took place without proper sustainable governance (Leandros & Papadopoulou, 2020).
Similarly the lack of sustainable approach led to the 1954 Rongelap nuclear fallout, Mercury crisis of 1956, the Bhopal disaster of 1984 are some of the ecological disasters that took place.
In the modern era, the lack of sustainable approach in the company is leading to the mass level of air pollution, and global warming is the biggest threat. The industry for their mere profits is destroying biodiversity and so on.
In the year 1968, Garret Hardin the philosopher and the ecologist wrote an essay on the impact on the ecological system due to the absence of the sustainable approach by the organisation. The first UN conference on the sustainable approach of doing business was done in the year 1972. By the passage of time, the concept of sustainable approach was implemented in the work rule of the organisations.
