Introduction
Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) also known as stroke is a life-threatening condition where blood flow to brain is hindered due to ruptured blood vessels. There can be two different types of CVA ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. However, both types of stroke deprives brain from oxygen supply, thus, causing brain cells to die.
It would be essential to consider that treatment with clot busters during such conditions can help to minimize the brain damage. Therefore, this paper will focus upon effect of Tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) when given IV to the patients within 3-4.5 hours can help to affect the outcomes one year later.
PICOT Research Question
The PICOT question is “In patients with acute CVA (P), how can IV t-PA within 3-4.5 hour (I) compared to patients who don't receive it in 3-4.5 hours (C), impact outcomes (O) one year later (T)?”
The elements of the above-mentioned question can be segregated as below—
(P): In patients with acute cerebrovascular accident (CVA),
(I): How can IV Tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) within 3-4.5 hour
(C): Compared to patients who don't receive it in 3-4.5 hours
(O): Impact outcomes
(T): One year later

Baratloo et al. (2016) presented that there can be two types of strokes, ischemic stroke is caused due to blood clot, which blocks or ruptures blood vessels in brain and 80% of the strokes are ischemic. However, hemorrhagic stroke is due to blood vessel, which broke and might have bled into the brain and this type of stroke is not common.
Numerous risk factors exists, which can foster stroke such as, diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking, heart diseases, age, alcohol consumption, smoking habits and much more. Baratloo et al. (2016) mentioned that, there could be three potential strategies concerning treatment for stroke, which are acute treatment, post stroke rehabilitation and prevention;...
