Introduction
The developed or high-income countries are witnessing a surge in the aged population. With this demographic change, there is also an increased number of people are living with different types of disabilities, both mental and physical. However, it has also been witnessed that there is an increased number of discrimination and abuse to the people who are suffering from a disability. There are frequent complaints raised regarding this issue, which is around 56 percent of complaints submitted, where the issues raised are related to the social exclusion and the negative attitude in the society for the disabled people.
People who are disabled, their families, their friends, and the caregivers to the disabled people report that they are facing daily instances of being getting segregated, excluded, marginalized and they are severely ignored. The best report that is made is they are treated differently, and the worst report is that they are experiencing exclusion and abuse, and they are also being subjected to fear, ignorance and prejudice. People who are suffering from a disability also believe that there is very little progress being made in the challenging prevailing attitudes that are towards the disability. The submissions of the report against the abuse also show that there are still widespread misconceptions and...
