What are Clinical Guidelines and how are they linked with EBP?
Clinical guidelines are a set of rules to be followed by any medical practitioner in a clinical environment while carrying out th
e practical application of the treatment. It improves the outcome of the treatment when maintained correctly. This indicates the proper procedure of handling a patient controlling the risk of Hospital Acquired Infections. These guidelines are often linked with the Evidence Based Practices (EBP), which is gained through the clinical training of the practitioners.
This helps to judge and decide the mode of treatment required for a particular patient. According to Welsh (2018), the EBP helps to understand the barriers and mistakes which sustains in the clinical practices of the trainees. These gaps can be filled with proper practice. As mentioned by Knighton et al. (2019), the EBP links better with clinical practices for the nursing staffs as the must apply these guidelines while handling the patients with care.
It helps in developing the clinical guidelines in the local clinics as well. As stated by Larsen et al. (2019), the EBP links the clinical guidelines by increasing the skills and knowledge about the clinical practices. Growing skills by a healthcare practitioner is very important to handle different kinds of patients confidently and this can be achieved by proper Evidence Based Practices following the clinical guidelines of the practices.
The integration and application of treatment with proper reasoning requires skills, which are nowadays given importance to for delivering the correct treatment at the point of emergency. Clinical practices with evidence increase the practical knowledge of a new joiner in this sector, which in turn grows a confidence in them to handle different patients properly.
This makes them ready for the professional application of the theories that they have learnt in their academics. The new healthcare professionals often get intimidated with such clinical guidelines, which are clarified when linked with the Evidence Based Practices (EBP).
Discuss how Research Evidence is Hierarchical
The process of research in Evidence Based Practice is hierarchical. It maintains a proper chronology to get the desirable outcome. This hierarchy consists of the design of the evidence, the methods required to be followed to carry out the research, and applicability of it towards the patients. The experimental method follows a pyramidal hierarchy with the strongest...
