The Fourteenth Amendment has a Citizenship Clause.It states:"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside."This clause was intended to give all freed slaves citizenship in the United States and the states they resided in.This Clause has come into the public eye with regard to immigration and illegal aliens having children in the United States. Many believe this nation became great because it was a great "melting pot" of cultures and peoples.
