Flexion refers to the body movements, which decreases the angle between two body parts. It can also be considered as bending where the angle between the bones decreases such as, upward movement of forearm at the elbow.
On the other hand, abduction refers to the movement away from midline for example shoulder raises the arms out to the sides due to abduction.
2.
Rotator cuff is made of tendons and muscles, which help to keep the ball or head of the upper arm into the socket of shoulder.
One of the major functions performed by rotator cuff is raising and rotating the arms. Further, rotator cuff also helps in stabilizing of shoulder joints along with performing various movements.
3.
Passive movements refer to body movements, which are performed by other person or individual without any voluntary motion of the patient. In other words, passive movements could be considered as movements where joints of individual performing exercise are completely relaxed.
However, an external force moves the body part. This can be explained with the example of a physiotherapy session where individual’s muscle stretch but due to the external force applied by the physiotherapist (Rochelle et al., 2020).
4.
Sprain and strain might be considered as similar as both causes pain and discomfort; however, it would be essential to consider that a sprain injures bands of tissue, which connect the bones together.
On the other hand, a strain involves injury to the muscle or band of tissues, which attaches muscle to the bones. In other words, strain affects the tendons while sprain affects the ligaments and both tendons and sprain are connective tissues.
5.
Occupational therapy (OT) focuses upon improving individual’s ability to perform daily activities or activities to be performed during daily living while, a physical therapy focuses upon improving client’s ability to perform movements of body or simply to help the client to move their body.
It would be essential to consider that occupational therapists can use physical agent modalities in order to relieve pain, reduce muscle spasm and improve circulation (Shah et al., 2020).
