The intended purpose of PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) was to make available affordable and accessible health insurance to Americans, to make the access to primary health care easy, and to make the services low in cost or affordable. The Act gives health related subsidies to families with income less than 100-400% of federal poverty level. All these basic legal protections were absent till now for general public. The act is intended to insure about 94% of Americans, lowering the number of uninsured population by 31 million with around 24% percent people being expected to remain out of the coverage.
The Act implements the near universal medical coverage in coordination of government, employers and beneficiary person. The act ensures to provide quality services with better delivery system. The law makes the healthcare organizations to be more accountable to the people for their treatments and services.
The reform improves the existing health insurance policies while establishing a new better health insurance market for those people who don’t have any kind of health coverage or Medicaid. The act ensures to cover all the citizens of US having family income less than 133% of federal poverty line and to encourage their enrollments. The act provides legal and guaranteed insurance cover with security and attendant coverage obligation. This act will put a control on Private health insurance companies to remove discretionary pricing system. The act restructures the financial link between insurance companies and the public to combat health insurance emergency (USGC 2010).
