The problem is ineffective pain management. Although nurses are expected to assess and manage a patients pain effectively. Nurses struggle to balance patient comfort with the appropriate use of pain medications, particularly opioids. This often leads to under-treatment or over-reliance on medication without considering non-pharmacological interventions. Educating nurses on holistic approaches to pain management could better align practice with quality patient care expectations.
Conduct a learning needs assessment, and document your findings and their implications for possible teaching methods. This is not a formal paper. Both narrative and listed responses will be acceptable.
- Identify the problem. What
sources
of data were used to identify and define the problem, and establish the need for instruction?
- Identify the target audience. Give a clear description of the specific group of learners that will be the recipients of the teaching intervention.
- Identify or create a tool to be used to assess the informational needs and learning styles of the group of learners. Include a copy of the tool used.
- Assess your target audience and describe your findings. This section must clearly answer the following questions: What strategy/method did you use to assess the learners? What did you, as the educational designer, learn about the problem? What did you, as the educational designer, learn about the group of learners?
- Based upon the results of this needs assessment, propose at least three different teaching methods to address the learning needs of the group. These teaching methods must take into account the different learning needs of the group.
