The prompt is to expand on a completed lab to solve an interesting problem using a technique related to one learned in the class (Computational Math). There are 5-6 labs to choose from. I will send the labs and code as well as pages of the textbook needed. Lab 1 seemed to be the simplest to expand on and prompt for that one would be "design an optimization routine for the state fitting problem in Lab 1." Needs to be at least 5 pages. Preferable structure: intro, background, code, math, computations, analysis, conclusion, and sources. Sources can come from anywhere credible but "Fundamentals of numerical computation" by Driscoll and Braun has to be one. Attached is some of the code for the lab. I've attached some of Lab 1's code below.
