The purpose of this assessment is to provide students with the opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues to prepare a group presentation and written report that reflects a real business communication issue. Students will be required to prepare a professional presentation of between 10-15 minutes, followed by a written report that examines the conceptual knowledge that informs the topic, i.e. relevant theories and models of communication. This report is due one week after the presentation so as to allow relevant feedback to be incorporated into the written submission. Students are then to complete a brief individual reflection that addresses the challenge of working in a group and their key communication learnings. This assessment consists of 3 components. 1.Oral presentation (20%) – 10-15 minutes maximum All students will record their presentation and on-campus students will also deliver their presentation in class after the due date for immediate feedback from staff and fellow students. All recorded presentations are to be uploaded via Moodle prior to Friday of Week 5 at 2PM. 2.Written report (20%) – 1,000 words maximum Analysis of the communication model in terms of the theoretical components possibly including aspects such as spelling and grammar checking, proof reading and presenting a professional looking report depending on your initial topic. Reports are to be uploaded via Moodle prior to Friday of Week 6 at 2PM. 3.Individual reflection (10%) Reflection of your learning based on feedback received from your presentation. All students will reflect upon the feedback received from their report and presentation and add a comment on their personal growth based on the feedback received. Moodle discussion forum contributions are to be uploaded by Friday of Week 8 at 2PM. This is pass fail activity. On-campus students MUST be present for their presentations, actively participate and be available to answer questions, to receive a grade for the presentation component of this assessment. Similarly on-line students must be in a group and upload their presentation and supporting materials by the due date.
