Part 1 - Summary
1. Smartphones
I
n contrast to desktop computers, mobile phones account for more than half of all website visitors. Even more crucially, smartphones and the app stores they support have revolutionized the way we engage with internet services and goods (Nagy, Schuessler & Dubinsky, 2017). With the iPhone, Apple introduced a new business model that allowed app developers from all over the world to create programs and interact directly with customers.
App developers now have direct access to customers thanks to the iPhone's new business model. This altered how individuals accessed the internet, resulting in the creation of a new market of app and phone users. Smartphones have begun to challenge laptops for the title of most common internet access method.
Potential hurdles to usage included recipient identification, communication channel dependability and the risk of losing agency. In response to the widespread usage of smartphones, the smartphone etiquette guide was created to explain how not to use your cell phone and why you should only use it in public areas. Phones may be addicting and being glued to them all the time can result in social isolation.
According to the article, Because of mobile phones, employers can stay in touch with their staff even when the office is closed. Frauds to obtain money are growing more prevalent and complex. They use phone calls and text messages to prey on the weakest elements of society. When not working, an employee used to be allowed to relax and take it easy. When they are travelling to and from work, it is not unusual for them to be approached.
2. Radios
Transistor radios began as a low-end niche product before going on to revolutionize communications. In the 1950s, the majority of middle-class households had RCA or Zenith radio consoles in their homes. These vacuum tube versions had great sound quality, but they were also costly, inefficient and clumsy (Nagy et al., 2017). Then Sony's transistor radios were introduced. It was easy to carry about because of their tiny size, but the sound quality was deplorable.
When it came to personal independence and listening to music whenever and wherever they wanted, transistor radios represented this for teens. However, they improved steadily and as a result, their esteem grew. That time span saw the introduction of digital music players such as the Walkman and the MP3, with more than one billion radios sold alone in America.
The radio industry is multifaceted, serving as a means of communicating, recording and reporting news at the same time, among other things. Radio, like many other American institutions, was founded by private individuals and businesses. However, the operating medium of the radio — the air above our heads — was more like the sea or a public roadway than private property. Everything in the park belonged to everyone and private property rights could not be divided up among individuals.
It is possible that case studies will reveal previously unidentified dangers and new research directions. Longer periods of exposure owing to early usage of mobile phones and other WTDs may be...
