Introduction
Diversity in the organisation is one of the important features of all the organisations nowadays. The main factor responsible for the diversity at workplace is multiculturism, such as for culture, age, gender, religion and race diversities, they occur as a result of migration and globalisation. The diversity in the countries globally forces all the governments in the world to bring the law or have policy, under which it is mandatory for all the organisations to hire diverse people as their employees.
Literature Review
Diversity in Business Organisation
As mentioned by Barak (2016), diversity in organisation can be defined as the development of the office environment, which is suitable as well as acceptable for every individual in the organisation. The diversity at workplace, such as gender, age, culture, race and religion diversities, allows all the employees to embrace their organisation and work with complete potential. As mentioned by Aguilera-Caracuel, Guerrero-Villegas, Vidal-Salazar and Delgado-Marquez (2015), there is wide range of diversity, which can be observed in the organisation.
There can be diversity of race, age, culture religious belief, social status, work experience, spiritual beliefs, financial status, disability, ethnicity, education, marital status, and gender. In case of Woolworth organisation, all kind of diversity can be observed in the organisation. They promote diversity at workplace among employees (Woolworths Group, 2019).
Impact of Diversity in Business Organisation
As noted by Bouncken, Brem and Kraus (2016), hiring the diversity in the organisation has many advantages. The diversity contributed towards the growth of the organisation as well as it is helpful in formation of brand image among employees. The hiring of diversity resulted in broadening of the perceptions towards the products and projects. It is also helpful in increase of the innovation in the organisation. As noted by Brannen, Piekkari and Tietze (2017), hiring of the diverse group and implementation of the diversity in the organisation is mere first step.
The management of diversity is equally necessary. The organisation, which failed to manage the diversity faces major, loses as the idea behind hiring the diverse group will loss in the process. As noted by Frijns, Dodd and Cimerova (2016), diversity in the organisation increases the quality of the organisation. It allows employees to interact with each other to get the exposure of different cultures and background. When a team is formed on any project, contains high diversity, the successful rate of that project and innovation rate of the project is way too higher in comparison to the project where there is lack of diversity.
This is because diverse group have different perception towards the outlook of the project. Diversity is helpful in identifying all the factors that contribute to the success and failure of the project. As suggested by Kılıc and Kuzey (2016), diversity is helpful in encouraging people to contribute the unique qualities in completion of the project. Organisational diversity is necessary for the stability of structure of the organisation. Diversity supported the healthy competition among the employees, because of it; employees tend to contribute at work to the fullest of their capability.
Impact of Diversity on Organisational Revenue
Diversity plays important role in the increase in revenue of the organisation. As stated by Rao and Tilt (2016), diversity in the organisation is helpful in increase in the productivity. It allows the business to reach to the places where barrier in language and culture has created restrictions in reaching the people of the foreign country. Globalisation provides the opportunity to all the business organisations to enter the international market. Earlier lack knowledge of the native place makes it difficult for the business to...
