THE SCIENCE OF ICE CREAM Name: _________________ Procedure: 1. In a small (quart-size) zip-lock bag place ½ dixie-cup sugar, 1 dixie-cup milk and ½ tsp vanilla. 2. Seal bag and mix well to dissolve the sugar. 3. Fill half a large (gallon-size) zip-lock bag with ice. 4. Add 1 dixie-cup rock salt to the LARGE bag. 5. Seal the small bag with the milk mixture and place it in the large bag. 6. Place the large bag on a few sheets of newspaper and fold the ends of the newspaper together to enclose the plastic bags. 7. Shake and rock the large bag until the contents of the small bag have solidified (about 10 minutes) 8. Carefully wipe the seal of the small bag before opening it…or you’ll have salty ice cream! 9. Transfer to a cup and enjoy! Lab Report Write a formal lab report to communicate your experimental findings. The lab report should consist of the following items: · Objective · Apparatus and materials · Theory (what scientific principles you have demonstrated in this experiment?) · List at least three principles. · Procedure · Data/Findings – Did you make any measurements? Do you have any numbers to report? · Sources of error – Include at least three. · Conclusion – What did you learn? · What variables can you change if you were redoing this experiment with a group of elementary school students?

Home Made Ice-Cream Preparation
Lab Report
In this report we are going to follow the process for doing an amazing science experiment whic
h we used to see around us. We are going understand the science behind it. How it is functioning and the reason and all the steps are mentioned here for the preparation of the task.
Objective
The objective of the task is to make the home-made ice cream even if we do not have an electric freezer. So, in this lab report we are making the home-made ice-cream by following the given set of steps to prepare the homemade ice cream.
Apparatus and materials
The required apparatus and the materials are listed below which we are going to use make the home-made ice-cream.
· Small (quart-size) zip-lock bag
· ½ dixie-cup sugar.
· One dixie-cup milk
· ½ tsp vanilla.
· Salt
Theory
As we know that the freezing point of water is 0oC for the normal case. But when we are missing some substance which are easily dissolvable in the water but that substance required lower temperature to freeze that particular substance. When we will mix it with water then the freezing point of water also will decrease.
For example, if we are missing 10% of rock salt into the water then the freezing point of the water is reduced -6oC or we can say 20oF. But if we will mix the salt of 20% in the ice, then the freezing point of the mixture will reduce till -16oC. or we can say it will be approx. 2oF.
So, if we will mix the ice and salt and put it in the box then due to the reduction in the freezing point of the mixture, it starts to take the heat from the surrounding but we already covered it with the thermally insulator box, then it will start to...
