The steam generated in a boiler always contains water droplets. It is known as wet steam and when it is used for industrial processes water tends to collect in the steam pipes. Steam traps are used to drain off water without allowing the steam to escape. The three main types are thermostatic traps, fl oat traps and impulse traps. Select any particular one and with the aid of a diagram, describe how it functions.
