ASSESSMENT INSTRUCTIONS & MARKING GUIDE Topic Code & Name: Nurs 3005 Transition to Professional Practice 2 (PEP) Assessment Number & Title (as per SAM): Assignment 1: Individual Poster: Specialty Stream Content Assessment (1500 words +/- 10%) Assessment Description: Poster Presentation This assignment requires you to create a poster (using one of the templates provided or by designing a poster yourself) addressing an area of practice or issue from your specialty stream content (you must do your assignment on the topics from your first specialty content tutorial). You are expected to read a wide range of peer reviewed journal articles to support information contained in your poster and this assignment requires you to present the current research evidence throughout your poster. A POSTER IS NOT AN ESSAY. Please check the criteria for a poster. Look on the web for examples of posters. Points that you need to address: • Title: Question or Issue to be stated in the title of the poster. Your specialty stream tutor will identify the options which you can do for this assignment. • Author and ID • Flinders University Logo • Introduction – Introduce the poster and area of study. • Background and Significance - Discuss the background knowledge of the question or issue, ensuring it is relevant to your specialty stream content referring to existing literature. • Key Messages - Perform a literature search and through reviewing the literature, identify three (3) key messages to support the importance of the question or issue. Use dot points for clear key messages that should stand out. • Recommendations: o What recommendations can be made for clinical practice surrounding your question or issue? o Does it require further research? Sometimes reading through the discussion, limitations and conclusion of the article helps. o Think of the ways for providing education and developing policy and procedures. • Implementation in Practice: o Discuss how the literature you have reviewed, and recommendations made can be implemented in practice. Always remember to link in to your question or issue. o Based on the answers you have reviewed from the literature – what are the implications for practice?
