There are many applications of personality assessment in life, specifically in the workplace. Personality assessment can provide details about how employees tend to view certain situations, how they may approach certain tasks, and their preference for communication style. With different approaches to understanding personality, there are multiple options for personality assessments.

Can help in determining the role of the employees within a project to ensure that they perform efficiently. 
Understand and identify the different motivating factors for the employees (Kramer et. al, 2014).
Personality tests use questions for identifying weaknesses and strengths for each of the employees at the workplace. With these, employers can be able to shape the employee’s role in projects or teams which will be suited for these strengths and weaknesses. Personality tests reveal which employees can work well together and who can perform best while working alone. When employees work in that way they can improve their work. This is possible when the managers or leaders are aware of the traits of the employees.

Trait Theory of Personality (Allport)
Divided personality traits into three broad categories:
Cardinal traits - Dominantes personality and rare. 
Central traits - Common traits that make up an individual's personality.
