Introduction
Leadership has been described as one of the basic requirements that helps an organization to achieve a shared goal of all individuals. It involves influencing the members of the team and has a positive correlation with the enhancement of the productivity and effectiveness of the team members. This assignment contemplates the aspects of leadership and management in the National Health Service. This essay will address my reflection on leadership and management in the health care setting.
Reflection
Reflection is referred to a concept that focuses on awareness of an individual's knowledge, past experiences, and beliefs. It is considered to be the key part of the emotional intelligence of individuals that focuses on a person's understanding and emotional control.
The model that has been considered for reflection in this particular assignment is the Atkins and Murphy Model of Reflection. This particular model of reflection is based on reflecting on the work and consciously analysing the decisions that are required for future actions (Belrhiti et al., 2020). It is contemplated by the self-awareness of the decisions that have been taken during the work. It also extends the ability to describe, critically analyse events and experiences by using logical thinking, the ability to evaluate learning and events or experiences, and identify any learning that has occurred. This model shall be used to evaluate the contributions that have been made during the project work.
Leadership & Management
Leadership is a social relationship between the persons working within an organization and helping each other to gain a personal goal and organizational goal. It helps the individual and the groups to achieve a common objective and the leaders influence the members of their team to achieve the designed successes and enhance their productivity. On the other hand, management is a process that helps in planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the activities of the employees to accomplish those designed objectives by the leaders.
Leadership & Management in NHS
Leadership and Management in National Health Services provide professional development and an effective delivery model to the patient as expected by them in the form of advice and direction from their clinician. The dominant aspect of the medical mind set along with the cultural reality has been a major aspect in providing advice and mentorship to the patients. Therefore, management and leadership in the healthcare services are effectively consolidating an efficient future of the National Health Services organization (Stone et al., 2018).
Leadership & Management- Reflective Note
From my perspective leadership and management is effective for the proper functioning of the organization and it is more important for the efficiency of the National Health Services organization. It enhances the service outcomes to the patients and brings out the best of the professional knowledge of the experts.
Project Work
The project was based on inadequate access to mental health services that disrupted the health care provided to the patients. The project was focused on the early intervention of a 10 bedded unit of male adults. The project aimed to reduce the long-term patient stays in the hospitals.
It was realized from the project that there is a greater need to improve and develop connections with the local charities education providers organizations to support the clients and the patients in the hospitals. It also made me realize how to improve the accessibility of psychological treatment. It also focused on building a therapeutic relationship with the patient by incorporating evidence-based interventions.
This project made me realize the barriers that are inadequate to affect the project management and have effectively disrupted the lack of sponsorship and recourses.
My role in the project was the effect on the forecast of different hemispheres of the development of the medical services that are the potential to achieve better clients and staff experiences and other outcomes.
The leader in the project was a democratic leader who gave full freedom to all the team members to effectively take their decision and address requirements while working on the project.
The learning experiences from the project include the aspects of open management and working within a ward setting by effectively developing a team.
