For this assessment, you will be required to choose a case study from the list provided below. You are then required to prepare an essay, proposing an overall detailed and integrated welfare system as a specific response to your chosen scenario. In your essay, you must:


· Identify & describe how the welfare system/s is relevant to the case study and how it addresses disadvantage


· Identify & investigate resources and support services for the case study chosen and consider the funding system of the welfare system which delivers services & evaluate the services suitable for the scenario


· Explain links between human rights and welfare systems with an analysis of the protection of vulnerable groups in the community (as per the case study chosen)


· Word Count: 1300 words

Introduction
    With modernisation of the society and increasing hustle and bustle in the lives of the people, families have little time for each other and do not seem to be emotionally attached to each other. In such situations, issues like family violence are quite prevalent and have a negative impact on the mental, physical and emotional growth of the children present in such families. It is therefore essential that individuals and families should take assistance of welfare programs that help to control the situation by providing such families and individuals with health care, unemployment compensation, housing assistance and child care assistance. Through this essay, we shall highlight the issues being faced by a 21-year-old man named James and how the welfares programs can help him to be out of his miserable condition.
Issues Being Faced by James
    James is a young 21-year-old man, who is an Aboriginal. The childhood history of James seems to be quite painful as he has been growing up in an environment, where family violence has been prevalent since a long time. He spent most of his years in foster care and residential homes and therefore, knows little about his cultural heritage. Being subjected to domestic violence, the mindset of James is not clear and he seems to face identity issues often. The company of James is not good as his friends have been putting pressure on him to indulge into actions such as drinking alcohol or intaking drugs. James has recently left a foster care centre and is jobless at the moment. His journey of life so far has been largely a negative one and it has had a huge adverse impact on the physical, mental and emotional well being of James. The hardships that he has faced is or is still facing have been making him feel overwhelmed about life. If the situations continue to be the same, it is likely that James may indulge into wrong habits and may even turn his focus towards criminal activities and harming the society at a large.
Assistance of Welfare Systems to Address the Issues
    In order to address the issues that James has been facing since a long time, it is essential that James must be provided with assistance from a welfare system. If James attends the welfare system being run by my place of work, I shall assist him with healthcare assistance, food stamps, unemployment compensations, housing assistance and medical care assistance.
