A nurse has an order to complete a procedure on a patient. After reading the procedure, the nurse notices that it is not best practice and it has not been updated for 6 years. The nurse takes this issue to the nurse leader (charge nurse) and the nurse manager (unit manager).

One of the nurses in the peer teams has urged the necessity of a continuity in the therapeutic treatment at home to an Alzheimer’s patient who is also suffering from Type I diabetes; however, as such, this healthcare policy has not been updated for more than 6 years. There is no adequate payment policy in executing such a treatment by the healthcare section, hence such treatment is not more into practice.
The patient, being elderly has continued to get re-hospitalized and get injuries from falling, in which the effective nursing can actually help in curing as supported by Boltz, Capezuti, Wagner, Rosenberg and Secic (2013). As therapeutic relationship is extensively helpful in proper recovery of the patients exclusively in mental health units, as opined by Hartley, Raphael, Lovell and Berry (2020), there needs to be amendments in the policy of nursing and have reimbursement rules for home care visits.
