 This is a graded discussion: 25 points possible due Oct 25 Discussion - Ongoing Professional Development 76 76 As you are nearing the mid point of your internship, you have probably had the opportunity to participate in some great professional development opportunities through your job regardless of whether this is a very first career experience or if you are in a position that you have held for a long time. Hopefully, you will also have been exposed to or have discovered on your own some great resources that inspire or inform you on current trends in technology information. You might also have some blogs or websites that you visit regularly. Continuing to learn and to develop not only your technical skills but also your personal and soft skills is key to remaining happy and engaged in the work place. It contributes to your value within your work place. It also contributes to your own sense of well-being. Finally, it also helps us to be more aware of new ideas and perspective. (Can I mention diversity of thought?) This is why so many organizations support continuing education. It keeps us alive! In this final discussion board, I would like for you to share some websites, blogs, newsletters, books - whatever! - you use to keep learning and stay inspired. Like I said, these might be resources where you can learn technical information, stay on top of emerging trends in your career/business or where you can read about and develop leadership and soft skills. This might be a resource you are already familiar with or a new one that you will discover as a result of this assignment. If you do not regularly schedule time to do this, start today! I try to plan at least a half hour on Friday mornings to read. If committing to do something like this on a weekly basis is too much, then do it every other week. As I come across information that I think would be beneficial to someone I know, I take a minute to share it with them. (This is a great way to stay connected and build your network too!)
