This is an individual assignment and requires each student to write an individual report based around a case study that demonstrates the relationship between transport and tourism through an in-depth comparative analysis of the Hop-on Hop-off bus tour in Melbourne with Captain Cook Hop-on Hop-off ferry service in Sydney. The analysis and evaluation should consider the following elements: a) A detailed comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of both products, service offered and the overall experiences from the tourist’s viewpoint. b) An evaluation of how both products are currently integrated into transport and tourism systems. c) Recommendations to improve the existing products, service levels and the overall visitor experience. d) Evidence of the application of relevant tourism and transport management theories and concepts to the case study, drawing on appropriate supporting examples, and discussing any implications and issues arising. The commission of this report is to analyze the relationship between transportation and tourism by considering the hop-on hop-off bus tour and the bus and ferry services provided by the Sydney hop-on hop-off bus. Through this research, it is found that e-tickets play a full role in Sydney's tourism and transportation system. The purpose
of developing these systems is to deal with Sydney’s complex network of trains, buses, light trains, ferries and railways through a unique fare structure. Currently, on public transport in the Greater Sydney area (40,000 square kilometers in total), hop-on hop-off bus tours account for almost 75% of the total daily trips. The study also pointed out that certain recommendations (such as hop-on hop-off bus tours or hop-on hop-off buses) must provide discounts for return trips to increase the utilization of these services. It is beneficial to allow travelers to take a relaxing trip to enhance the travelers' experience.
