Imposing sanctions on Russia with a view to restrict the use of chemical weapons has some aspects to investigate. Russian government has not displayed any dubious activities in terms of accessing black market nor used their capital asset illegally. Thus, as per the investigations and observation of financial reports, though allegations are framed against the treaties such as DPRK of Iran, the sanctions will limit the financial abilities of Russia.
However, it will not affect the course of research for developing chemical weapons (McEachern & McEachern, 2017). There are illicit ways to avoid these sanctions and proliferation with the international peace community. The sanction may only lead to financial crisis and lack of advantage in international market but that will no longer be an effective thing due to the radical approach of Russian government (Pestova & Mamonov, 2019).
