SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES
OVERVIEW :
Quality improvement committee was organized in order to avoid the Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI). The interventions proposed in the committee would help to
analyze the existing process and the possible changes that could be adopted to avoid CAUTI and ensure the patient safety. It is a common infection due to indwelling catheters (Parker, V., 2017). The panel members would discuss and look into the benefits of these interventions and decide its efficacy among the patients and well that would work in reducing and avoiding CAUTI. The comparative analysis (or) efficacy study can be done for knowing the effectiveness of the interventions that are being proposed to the quality improvement committee.
Once the practice is implemented in the healthcare setting, the extent to which the CAUTI has been controlled can be well analyzed and understood so as to decide whether this is to be continued (or) to find any other alternative solution for this problem, in order to ensure the patient safety and well- being.

In any acute care center, it is needed to educate their staff about catheter management along with that regular monitoring session is also needed to be adopted to reduce the degree of risk. A proper guideline and protocol are needed to be followed for the prevention of CAUTI (Parker, V., 2017).
CAUTI could be very difficult to detect and this is majorly because symptoms of CAUTI might resemble with original symptoms of the patient. Therefore, avoiding CAUTI would be a better strategy and hence improve the patient health.
