Please refer to your Student Handbook for full details of the programme assessment scheme and general information on preparing and submitting assignments. Learning Outcomes: After completing the module, you should be able to: 1 Identify and explain the key resources available to facilitate own learning and study and reflect on the development of personal academic skills 2 Apply time management techniques to study planning 3 Identify, summarise, and evaluate credible information from a range of different academic sources 4 Explain and demonstrate how to avoid plagiarism through correct referencing Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline and a word count; the appendices if relevant; and a reference list in Arden University (AU) Harvard format. You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed below. Please note that tutors will use the assessment criteria set out below in assessing your work. Maximum word count: 3000 words Please note that exceeding the word count by over 10% will result in a reduction in grade by the same percentage that the word count is exceeded. You must not include your name in your submission because Arden University operates anonymous marking, which means that markers should not be aware of the identity of the student. However, please do not forget to include your STU number. [2182] Page 3 of 7 Assignment tasks There are 4 Tasks designed to cover all 4 learning outcomes. All tasks need to be submitted in a single (One) Microsoft Word document. There are further instructions on how to submit at the end of this assignment paper. Task One: Time Management A) Demonstrate your time management skills by creating a timetable for study during this module. In your timetable highlight your work commitments, family time, study time and recreational time. B) Write a reflection on how you managed your time, utilising the timetable and using Pomodoro or Eisenhower to manage your study. Use Gibb’s model to structure your reflection. (Max 750 words) (25 marks) (LOs:2) Task Two: Resources and reflection A) Identify 4 key resources that you have used to support your study during this module. Explain how you used each resource in your studies. B) Write a reflection on the development of your academic skills during this module. For example, writing skills, referencing skills, researching skills and summarising skills. Use Gibb’s model to structure your reflection. (Max 750 words) (25 marks) (LOs:1) Task Three: Literature searching, note taking and evaluating A) Find a book online using Perlego on the topic of Academic Integrity, plagiarism and referencing. Summarise the key points using the Cornell note taking method. State the full reference of the book (AU Harvard), demonstrate your note taking and then give a summary of the source in terms of its credibility (using the CAARP guidance, which is documented on iLearn). B) Find a newspaper article or website online on the topic of Academic Integrity, plagiarism and referencing. Summarise the key points using a mind map note taking method. State the full reference of the book (AU Harvard), demonstrate your note taking and then give a summary of the source in terms of its credibility (using the CAARP guidance, which is documented on iLearn). (Max 750 words) (25 marks) [2182] Page 4 of 7 (LOs: 3) Task Four: Plagiarism and referencing A) Explain what is meant by plagiarism and academic integrity. Support your explanations with definitions and citations. B) Produce an ‘at a glance’ leaflet that gives examples and explanations on how to produce a reference list using AU Harvard referencing. Include examples on how to insert in-text citations and direct quotations. (Max 750 words) (25 marks) (LOs: 4) End of question Formative Feedback [2182] Page 5 of 7 You have the opportunity to submit a draft copy of your work to receive formative feedback. The feedback is designed to help you develop areas of your work and it helps you develop your skills as an independent learner. If you are a distance learning student, you should submit your work, by email, to your tutor, no later than 2 weeks before the actual submission deadline. If you are a blended learning student, your tutor will give you a deadline for formative feedback and further details. Formative feedback will not be given to work submitted after the above date or the date specified by your tutor - if a blended learning student. Guidelines You MUST underpin your analysis and evaluation of the key issues with appropriate and wide ranging academic research and ensure this is referenced using the Arden Harvard system(s). The My Study Skills Area on iLearn contains useful resources relating to referencing. Additional notes: Students are required to indicate the exact word count on the title page of the assessment. The word count excludes the title page, tables, figures, diagrams, footnotes, reference list and appendices. Where assessment questions have been reprinted from the assessment brief these will also be excluded from the word count. ALL other printed words ARE included in the word count. See ‘Word Count Policy’ on the homepage of this module for more information. Submission Guidance [2182] Page 6 of 7 Assignments submitted late will not be accepted and will be marked as a 0% fail. Your assessment should be submitted as a single Word (MS Word) or PDF file. For more information please see the “Guide to Submitting an Assignment” document available on the module page on iLearn. You must ensure that the submitted assignment is all your own work and that all sources used are correctly attributed. Penalties apply to assignments which show evidence of academic unfair practice. (See the Student Handbook which is on the homepage of your module and also in the Induction Area). [2182] Page 7 of 7

During this course module, I had decided earlier to ensure that balance of personal and academic life should be maintained because that was the key to success. In order to ensure that everything remains right in order, I ensured that I utilise the day’s activities to the fullest by developing the technique of five days’ work a week and taking two days’ off to refresh my strength.
I describe this experience as one of the best learning phases of my academic life and throughout the course, sort of individuality in learning developed. I became the part of a learning journey that helped me embarking towards the perfection. The goal was to maintain work life balance as well. As per my feeling to the course of time management, I understood some gaps in previous time management ventures; I was compromising a few things by pushing my limits and this was making me slightly frustrated.
When I analysed these gaps, I reached to the conclusive statement that I definitely need to revise my time management skills. This was also necessary due to maintain the family bond and values of relationships along with study and work. Altogether, this new time management plan, if I am to evaluate it now, has combined every aspect of my life into one perfect social and personal sphere.
Although it may appear that, I was moving in a loop, doing the same things, for five days a week, yet I must mention here that I maintained this course just to ensure that I do not lose the track of anything I do. It is applicable towhether it is study or others; I have dedicated time slots to sports or family or even to the show or movies that I would watch on weekends. I actually loved the intensity that I had on weekends, the curiosity to dedicate two hours for watching some my old time favourites as they refreshed me to a major extent.
To conclude, I have successfully accomplished the time table mentioned above; it is now a part of my academic life and I would ensure that it remains the same—only the slots will change and the job responsibilities, projects and other related tasks will replace course module revisions or the new resource study only. This will help me develop the course of steady professional life combined perfectly with personal life.
The action plan for the future is now prepared as I am planning to integrate some more activities into this plan, linking me socially with people as well. I would like to enhance my active engagement with community services at weekends so that I can also contribute to the development of social values. At the same time, I would like to see one or two slots added for working over my hobbies.
Task Two: Resources and Reflection
A)
Resources are the foundations of academic life of students. During this module, I got this opportunity to enhance my academic knowledge through the application of the quality resources that I could use. The first resource that helped me develop knowledge of the module was the coordination of instructors with the module and the students. I understood the basics of the module under their valuable guidance, the course contents as well as the process of doing the assignments.
The second key resource in this context was library. I utilised the course texts and other relevant material that could get from there. At the same time, my focus was on developing insightful views about the course and to do so, I even studied the class notes, lecture notes as well as the presentations received. I combined the library resources with the class resources so that the integration of the two would help me understand theories of psychology and criminology. I managed throughout the course with these first three key resources.
However, it should be noted here that that as a student, one has to make...
