Entrepreneurship is the process of combining all the resources available and turning those into best market value. Different approaches are used to implement the decisions taken for the business. A person who does all these processes is known as entrepreneur. Different mindsets and models are used to express the thought process of an individual. This thought process takes place with respect to real-world scenario and can be considered as Mental Models. These models help entrepreneur to shape their ideas and behavior in order to solve problems, which may occur in real world. These models can either help the entrepreneurial idea or inhibit the idea.
Role of Mental Models in Influencing Entrepreneurship
Mental Models are representations, images, or schemes of real world according to individual. These models help entrepreneur to visualize the possible problems, which can occur during implementation of entrepreneurial idea. The help of this approach can easily design market strategy. Models help various industries and organization to grow in their domain as this model consider continuous change happened in market. Lack of inculcation of these models may harm the entrepreneur in business.
Further, models helps an individual in making predictions, drawing inferences and deciding the actions, which are needed to be taken. This enable entrepreneur to have control over execution and relate world with the help of conception and perception. Mental Model also enables discussion and dialogue, which help in interpreting the actions of others. Complex problems can be turned into simpler using these models in entrepreneurial idea.
Three Mental Models that May Inhibit My Entrepreneurial Idea
As suggested by the model opportunity cost, mental models, which include fear of loss in business, inhibits the execution of entrepreneurial idea. This can be explained by an example, if an individual visualizes real-world problems and analyze them, it concludes that every problem comes with a risk of loss in business (Kollmann, Stockmann & Kensbock, 2017). Further, it restricts the thought process of an individual to expand the area of visualization and possible threats.
