Use of Social Media during 2014 Indian General Election for Political Participation and Expression

The second assignment is a 1500-2000-word essay which presents a critical review of 2-3 research articles. Identify the main areas or themes in the literature that are relevant to your topic of interest. You will need to select 2-3 articles that have been published in international peer-reviewed journals or edited volumes, on a topic of your interest and within the domain of communication and journalism studies. The essay has two principal aims: 1) to provide a critical reading, comparison and discussion of the arguments and conclusions of these articles (similar to a literature review); and 2) to critically discuss and compare the research methodologies adopted in these articles. In this part, you need to discuss advantages and shortcomings of the articles’ research design, methods of data collection and analysis. You will need to draw on other literature too, to provide a critical reading of the arguments and methodology of the 2-3 articles that you’ve chosen, but your main focus should be on these articles. This essay will worth 80% of the total module mark.
