Marcus:

As you could see, the implications of conducting ethical behavior in research spread across many areas beyond the research arena. It's good to have codes of ethics to follow, with the purpose of protecting individuals in general with consent forms. Before you could collect data for your study, you will be required to complete the CITI course.

Week 6/D1: Ethical Issues

Conducting research commands a very careful, watchful and ethical focus in designing, collecting and analyzing the data. Protecting research participants is key to conducting a thorough well performed research study. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews research projects to ensure human participants receive adequate protection and the opportunity to yield their informed and uncoerced consent. Designing research requires the production of reliable, accurate data. The ethical issues that might arise in the design of the research is the subjectivity of the researcher that could be imposed in the study. Reflexivity is a process that involves conscious self-reflection on the part of the researchers to make explicit their potential influence on the research process (Hennink, 2011). Data collection is mainly obtained from surveys, interviews, or observations. One ethical issue that might arise in the data collection process is in making participants aware that their involvement is involuntary. Participants are to be told upfront that they are not locked into the study and can depart at any time. Another ethical issue that may arise in data collection is in maintaining confidentiality. Participant’s information needs to be kept in a secure place. Analysis of the study should render true findings. The ethical issues that might arise in the analysis of the study is researcher’s ability to be objective and unbiased. Biases sabotage the researcher’s findings.

The responsibility of the researcher is to ensure objectivity, quality work, and demonstrating a confidentiality and a respect for the research participants. Researchers are also responsible for demonstrating an act of beneficence in reducing any harm to participants. Lastly, researchers must ensure they receive informed consent from research participants and that the report of their results are honest. Participants must be fully informed of what will be asked of them, how the data will be used, and what (if any) consequences there could be (Fleming et al, 2018). Ethical issues that may arise in the design, data collection and analyzation of my study involves paying special attention to ensuring that the validity and reliability of my study is met. Since I am conducting interviews, I need to ensure that my interviews are not unstructured so that I stay on topic and organized with the interview questions. Of particular concern is the possibility that unstructured interviews may venture into topics that participants do not anticipate, that they find upsetting, or that shift their perceptions of core aspects of their lives or relationships (Haverkamp, 2005).

Ethical consideration in research and the general business is an important aspect in the modern context. However, various issues need to be dealt with before the research is been conducted. A major ethical issue in conducting research is informed consent. Informed consent is how a research participant's right to autonomy is protected. Respondents should be taken into account as the research participant based on informed consent. The principle of informed consent reflects the researchers should provide sufficient information and assurance about all the aspects regarding the participation in the interview processes. It also allowed the individuals to understand the implication of the participation and to reach a fully informed, considered, and freely given decision about whether to participate or not without exercising any pressure or coercion (Collings-Hughes, Townsend & Williams, 2021). Thus, ethics is not only important in course of the research, but is also important before conducting the research.
I agree with your point that ethical consideration can...
