It is important for managers to know the perceptions and attitudes individuals bring to the work environment because awareness is the key to maintaining employee relationships. Most of the time this is done by the types of leaders and the methods of communication used in the workplace. It is important for bosses to use perception in the minds of the employee if the image is not what they wish it to be for the community. When prescription data is spoken about it shows the employee has a positive outlook on the workplace. So proper supervision is used to make sure that the employee doesn't end up having the wrong understanding.

Also knowing these traits of the employee makes it so much easier for the managers to know how to keep all the employees happy. This also helps them find out where the employee's best strengths are so they can better place them in the workplace. Sometimes the best way for employers to best know if the employee will fit well within the company is for them to do a personality test on them before they hire them. it is very important for the employer to know when an employee is not a good fit with the company or with their team. managers should always keep an eye on the employee's attitudes, and the perceptions of their career in the company.

From my experience of this in my workplace before I got hired they asked me a bunch of questions such as why I wanna be in this field, what I feel best about coming to work there, what I'm going to college for, how I see this jobe long term or short term and so many more. Also before they hired me they did a couple of tests one was a personality test and one was on how much knowledge I knew about this type of job and how much I could lift. They said they do this kind of stuff with almost all the people they hire. Once I got the job they still do tests every couple of months to keep up our education and to make sure we still get along with our team and to make sure we keep treating our patients right. They do all of this to keep an eye on us to make sure we fit well in their company.

It is important for managers to know the perceptions and attitudes that individuals bring to the work environment because they highly affect areas such as job performance, attendance, and an employee’s attitude could also impact the attitudes of other employees as well. Our reading material states that understanding perception and subsequent attitudes will not only facilitate the ability to correctly understand and anticipate behaviors, but will also enhance the ability to change or influence that behavior.

In order for a manager or a leader to influence productivity, it’s important to know how their employees perceive their job, or anticipate an employee’s attitude when assigning a new task. If I perceive my job task negatively, then the likelihood of my performing that task well will be slim. On the other hand, if I’m favorable to the task I am assigned to then, not only will I be determined to complete it, I may even exceed what was expected.

My office is currently in the process of moving to a new location. We are actually finally able to move our boxes into the new office tomorrow. I’m not a manager, but if I were, I’d imagine having to understand the perception and attitudes of my staff during this stressful transition. There are three types of perceptions that I see: 1) enthusiasm - some of our staff are very excited and doing all they can to help make this transition go smoothly; 2) uncooperative - those that are very negative and want absolutely nothing to do with moving; and 3) neutral - a neither here nor there attitude of moving to a new office location.

If I were a manager, here is a diagram of how I would have anticipated the perceptions and attitudes of our staff regarding the office move:

In order for this transition to be successful, it's important for our managers and leaders to analyze how this move will be perceived by the employees, and anticipate their attitudes and behavior. This way, I would know to avoid assigning someone with an uncooperative attitude to pack up another section that they don't even work in. That could result in damaged equipment or supplies due to lack of care, and more than likely due to dissatisfaction on the part of that employee.
