Every system even everything is having its own pros and cons. same applies to the Enterprise system. Nowadays, several business and organizations are adopting the enterprise system. Every business
or every business person is having on reasons behind adopting this system. Some evaluate the factors and then takes the decisions, while on the other hand there are many who just take decisions after seeing others using particular software. Before adopting any software it is important to analyze its effects benefits and other pros and cons. Here in this report, the principal drivers behind every business adopting the ERP system are discussed. Additionally, the contribution of the enterprise system to the performance of the organization and the consideration regarding the organizational Change management for adopting the enterprise system are also discussed.
Principal drivers behind businesses adopting Enterprise Systems
Nowadays there are several organizations that are choosing the enterprise system. Yes, companies have chosen enterprise system ranging from ERP, CRM, SRM, and PLM to SCM and others without having an idea about the consequences and effects. There are several business persons who feel like they have taken the right decisions by adopting the enterprise system while on the other hand there are several who have regretted their decisions (Anaya et al. 2015). As per the information gathered, most of the companies have adopted ERP. Now the question is Why organizations are adopting the Enterprise System.
Replacing legacy systems –
Nowadays most of the companies are heading towards adopting the enterprise system and the main reason is “Replacing Legacy System”. Whenever a business experience that the old Legacy system has started cracking and Management is not able to complete all the business requirement then there is a great need of replacing the old system with the new enterprise system (Ruhi, 2016). Enterprise system is not only being adopted due to the replacement of previous systems but also there are several major issues including the transformation improvement of processes in business, new ways of completing the business task and several others.
Where users dominate –
In many organizations, there is a federal IT structure. In such organizations, the requirements for the IT Solutions decide the call of the shots from the business heads. At times, the business heads focus upon what they need and always argue on the same matter (Mostaghel et al. 2015). In several organizations, users in ant maintenance chose IFS, users in HR chose Peoplesoft, users in IT & Finance chose SAP, and Pl and Marketing choose the Siebel systems according to their requirements.
CEOs diktat
In many organizations, the CEO takes all the important decisions. In order to take major decisions, the CEO of highest consultant and then the consultant advice about the Grand concepts (Ahmad and Mehmood 2016). Also, show so many people used to adopt the factors that others are adopting. For example, that CEO went to a party where his friends are discussing adopting the enterprise system and when he came back he decided to bring the enterprise system into the organization.
The same CEO went to Australia for a meeting and there he saw the companies using the SAP the system successfully. Thereafter he called his manager and ordered to bring the SAP system in the organization as soon as possible. Here he has taken the decision so rapidly that it could have to bring a lot of changes in the organization. It is not important that every Rapid change leads to success sometimes such changes lead to tough situations also.
Management’ informed decision
In this prospect, the seniors of the organization analyze the competitive situations and strategies to adopt any new system in the organization. The management finds it's important or necessary to adapt the ERP system then the decisions taken according to the requirements (Felderer et al. 2016). The whole project of adopting a new system completes by following a proper plan having a clear objective. Whenever a decision is taken with proper planning then it always leads to success and emulates the growth.
When CIO proposes
Most of the small market enterprise sector organizations adopt the ERP system when CIO strongly recommends it. The main motive of the CIO is to bring enhancement in his profile.
