Answer to question No.1
Breastfeeding is one of the essential need for babies to fulfill their nutritional demands. In the growing century decade a huge range of reduction can be seen in the phenomena of breastfeeding. Now it has become a huge matter of concern. A series of strategic approaches are being taken in case of promoting the importance of breastfeeding. Various campaigns and educational approaches are being taken to promote the necessity of breastfeeding. Breastfeeding up to 6 months can reduce the mortality rate of infants around 13% (Upadhyay, et al, 2018). A certain necessity of infant feeding can be seen in terms of the purpose of improvement of the physical as well as mental health of the babies. Hence a cumulative approach of both the government as
well as public agencies can be noticed. The proper mental and physical development of the mothers and babies is essential in building the good health condition of society. Continuous breastfeeding reduces the risk of various diseases and infections of babies. The government and various agencies are taking various initiatives in increasing the rate of breastfeeding worldwide to develop the proper infant health equality and effective growth of mental health.
In the case of England it can be seen that the rate of breastfeeding is the lowest in the globe. Most of the cases it can be noticed that the mothers’ started breastfeeding after the babies’ birth but a huge range of them left it after 6 to 8 weeks. Hence the overall rate becomes lower in England. In 1999 the government took the initiative to increase the percentage of breastfeeding ion England (Jackson, 2017). The department of health took various effective initiatives for infant feeding activity. To establish the proper feeding phenomena they suitable funding was started. A part of the activity was the funding. A huger number of projects were selected for the funding to take the initiative for the infant feeding activity. Through various effective initiatives and various approaches the need for breastfeeding is being adopted by the mothers. The effective role of the government can be seen in this particular matter. With the advent of capitalism and globalization along with the development of technology in the modern century a drastic change in socio-cultural life has also been seen. With the rapid growth of social life a huge range of the declination in breastfeeding has been seen. The direct proportional declines of breastfeeding in England become a vital issue. In the era of 1960 to 1970 these issues can be seen a huge manner and gradually the rate of the breastfed becomes the lowest in the globe (Fredrickson, 2017). United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) took this fact as a huge matter of concern and started various effective initiatives to maintain the average rate of breastfeeding in England as well as in the UK (Hanvey, 2019). Breastfeeding policy in England has been adopted and evidence-based strong health benefits of breastfeeding are being promoted widely. Along with the approach of the local authorities, the various effective campaigns have been launched to promote the goal of breastfeeding and to involve more population under this ethical phenomena.
Despite all the promotions of the department of health and all other government approaches it can be seen that the rate of breastfeeding increased marginally. No such drastic growth can be seen in England. It has been reported that around 75.8% of mothers have been convinced of the benefits of breastfeeding. All the evidence tells that in England around 83% of mothers start breastfeeding and this percentage decreases at approximately 43% after 6 to 8 weeks of breastfeeding (World Health Organization, 2017). Furthermore a very less percentage of breastfeeding can be seen after 6months of childbirth. In the recent era the National Breastfeeding policies and action plans are being adopted to emphasize this phenomenon of breastfeeding. The importance of breastfeeding and the impact of it over public health is being promoted irrespective of the biological as well as the cultural environment. Fruitful initiatives are being taken by the government and actions are being taken to build up the partnership and cooperative bond with the mothers to support and maintain the breastfeeding. According to the WHO guidelines it is essential to fed breast milk to the children up to six months of their age (World Health Organization, 2017). The government of the UK is taking several initiatives in making the agenda successful. The department of health is taking initiatives to appreciate the decision-making behavior of parents in terms of accepting the phenomena of breastfeeding.
At the beginning of the current century, the fruitful cognitive steps are being taken in case of getting a prosperous result in the development of public health. Along with the overall outcome of the physical and mental health development the newborn infant feeding is directly linked. The NHS has taken the initiatives and the department of health has adopted the cooperation of the local authorities to fulfill the aim of the breastfeeding campaign (Soti-Ulberg, et al., 2020). All the effective approaches are being taken by the government to improve the slope of the graph of the overall percentage of the newborn infant feeding. In October 2015 the NHS England has decided to shift the responsibility of the public health of the children up to age 6 months to the local authorities. According to the current record of 2015-2016, the percentage of the 6 to 8 weeks babies’ breastfeeding rate is around 43% in England. According to the report of the infant survey, the rate of exclusive breastfeeding can be seen in England around 24% for the six weeks infant. The overall initiation rate of breastfeeding rate has been increased at 81% in England (www.unicef.org.uk). The involvement of the government in the breastfeeding activity in England can be noticed remarkably. The lower rate of breastfeeding indicates the crucial problems of infant health. Problematic growth and unequal health can be seen among the infant. Here the need for the proper approach can be seen effectively.
