Use the file created in Exercise 2 of Section 3.3 of Chapter3 (or use Chpt 5-3.xls), and do the following:
Two Possible Outcomes
a. Generatea contingency table withSexas the column variable and Insurance as the row variable, and calculatethemarginal probabilities of each variable.
P(A)= A/N
b. Calculatejoint probabilities“and” for the two variables and show them in aseparate table. Confirm that the joint probabilities “and” sum to 1.
P(A and B)
c. Calculatejoint probabilities“or” for the two variables, and show them in aseparate table. Confirm that the joint probabilities “or” sum to rows + columns− 1.
d.Calculateconditional probabilitiesof having a particular type of insurance, givenSex, and determine if the two variables are independent.
