Introduction
Study of organization behaviour provides us the insight of how the employees behave in and perform in the workplace. This helps us in understanding different aspects that can motivate employees to perform, increase their performance and help the organization in establishing a strong and trustworthy relationship with the employees. There are different aspects of employee’s character that influence their behaviour towards organizational operation. In this report, a detailed discussion is done on employee’s characteristics in the organization. Further, the discussion is also done on how these characteristics are observed in the organization where I work and result because of that action.
Six Aspects of Employees Characteristics in Organization Behaviour
There are different types of employee characteristics and organizational characteristics, which leads to the organizational function.
Types of Individual Behaviour
There are many types of individual behaviour, however, most of the behaviour are organized into five categories, such as: task performance, organizational citizenship, counterproductive work behaviour, joining and staying with the organization and maintaining the work attendance. Namiki et al. (2018) have discussed that task performance refers to the individual’s voluntary behaviour, which is goal directed and it contributes towards the achievement of the organizational objectives. There are three types of task performance, such as performance, proficiency, adaptive and proactive.
Organizational citizenship refers to the employee behaviour, which extends beyond performing specific tasks. These are various types of cooperation and helpfulness to others with respect to the support to the organization’s social and psychological context. Counterproductive work behaviours are the organizational behaviour, which is interested in all workplace behaviours that includes dysfunctional activities that are collectively known as counterproductive work behaviours. These are the types of behaviour, which directly or indirectly harm the organization or their stakeholders.
Joining and staying with the organization is where the people in the organization are working together towards common goals, as another critical set of behaviours is joining and staying with the organization. Maintaining workplace attendance is attracting and retaining the employees, organization needs to everyone to be present at the scheduled time.
