Purpose:

Annotated Bibliography

Topic: Social Media and Privacy

According to Graff and Birkenstein (2014), it is important to represent the viewpoints and positions of others fairly and accurately. To do so, it is necessary to generate summaries that are free of judgment or bias toward your own perspective. Someone reading your summaries should have no idea where you stand on the topic. Focus on chapter 2 for guidance as you engage in this assignment.

Directions:

Think of the topic you chose for the final paper, and locate at least 6 of the 10 sources required for the course paper. Sources must be peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings (check the library Informatics database here: https://apps.library.albany.edu/dbfinder/results.php?subject=informatics); Wikipedia is not acceptable.

Read the articles and generate an annotated bibliography consisting of citations in APA style and summaries that represent the position of the author (without indicating your perspective). For a summary of each article, consider these:

· ● Study focus/aims

· ● Theory or framework

· ● Study design

· ● Study results

· ● Main discussion points (authors’ arguments)

· ● Notes/impressions including quotes (Note: Make sure to save at least 3 quotes from your

sources for the next week’s assignment).

Formatting:

1. Submit the annotated bibliography as a doc/docx file.

2. Organize the citations and summaries in alphabetical order by last name of the first

author on each citation.

3. Then, provide each summary below its citation as an indented block of text.

4. Each summary should be about 1⁄2 page, doubled spaced, 12 point Times New Roman.

Citation of Article 1: Jozani, Ayaburi, Ko and Choo (2020)
According to the findings of Jozani, Ayaburi, Ko and Choo (2020), from the study of 354 survey responses, it was indicated that interest declines in both institutional and structural privacy issues. With regard to the antecedent factors, organizational privacy issues are enhanced by the presumed vulnerability of information. Through a follow-up text analysis report, these results are further analyzed and confirmed, indicating that users who appreciate the convenience of these applications are more likely to raise concerns about social security and reduce their interaction. This study contributed to the mobile app privacy discourse by uncovering the complex dynamics of privacy issues and advantages in social mobile applications. With regard to the antecedents, institutional privacy issues are enhanced by the perceived sensitivity of information. Nevertheless, the understanding of risk and regulation affects social privacy issues. Furthermore, while the results of social and enjoyment benefits are supposed to be positive, participation is diminished by the perception of operational efficiencies.
Citation of Article 2: Marin, Carpenter and Tur (2020)
Social media-related data privacy issues are particularly critical to educators, as incidents such as the 2019 Cambridge Analytica fiasco have drawn public attention. In this research, it has been found that many educators utilize social media, even with their students, for professional reasons and therefore, this paper tried to inform them about issues of data privacy, which can affect education. As indicated by Marin, Carpenter and Tur (2020), the problem is examined from an interpretive paradigm focused on a mixed-method methodology derived from survey data from a point emerge of 150 pre-service teachers at three universities studying...
