At Brown University, biology professor Kenneth Miller was born in 1948. Brown University awarded hi
m a Sc.B. in biology in 1970, and the University of Colorado awarded him a Ph.D. in biology in 1974. His study focused on issues with biological membrane structure and function. Miller is a devoted Catholic, yet he also openly opposes creationism and backs the intelligent design movement. In his widely read book Finding Darwin's God: A Scientist's Search for Common Ground between God and Evolution, he makes the case that accepting both God and evolution is not incompatible with one another (Platzer et al., 2019). Just as believing in evolution is based on "science, believe in God is based on faith. Because of his faith in God and the idea that God has had a hand in the evolution of the cosmos and different relationships with humans, Kenneth Miller does identify as a creationist in a certain sense. Religion and science have a long history of conflict. Miller asserts that if intelligent design were introduced in the classroom to inform students that there is either an explanation for evolution or a design explanation, it might lead to a disagreement between those who believe in God and those who do not.
