Watch Ryan Reeves’ YouTube videos (see links below) on the First Great Awakening and the Second Great Awakening and take careful notes. Determine how the two movements were the same and how they were different. Make note of the specific times that each occurred and how the age shaped the nature of each event. As with all your posts, establish a thesis that reflects the significance of both movements as uniquely American episodes. Then, develop three elements that support your thesis. It would be natural to state that both Awakenings had X but the First exhibited it this way and the Second a different way. Figure out who were the leaders of these two movements and what drove them in a certain direction. Was the leadership from the same Christian religious tradition with similar aims or very different? (this could be how you address one of the three elements.) Faith should be at the center of your thesis but you need to figure out an argument around these two events that takes place at different times in American History. Try to find three components that you can compare and contrast during these two events that serve to support your thesis.

This will be a five paragraph essay with an intro, body and conclusion.
