What are the primary differences concerning controlled areas, limited areas, and exclusion areas in the transportation industry and specific security challenges related to each? What are some of the major problems associated with drug abuse in the workplace and the security manager’s responsibility related to them?
Controlled area is an area surrounding an exclusion or limited area just like facility lobby. Such an area tends to provide safety, administrative control or buffer zone for exclusion or limited areas. There is no control on movement of authorized personnel in this area because it does not give direct access to secure assets. Limited area is area near a secure asset which requires restrictions and escorts to prevent access else uncontrolled movement in this area may permit access to secure asset. This area is restricted at certain times. Exclusion area is an area where movement is totally restricted and any uncontrolled movement will give direct access to security asset thus needs to be strictly controlled.
