In Australian context, the concept of sustainable education is one of the core components of early childhood learning framework (EYLF). In fact, the intriguing aspects of sustainable practices in early childhood education is that on the one hand, it encourages the conventional pedagogies to be applied in honing the cognitive skills of young learners (Hardwick-Franco, 2018).
However, on the other hand, it accepts the fact that the modern world of education is driven by various norms that are not apt for adherence as per the conventional ideologies. Thus, a rare combination of conventional approach and modernism is somewhat the most suitable term to be applied to the context of early childhood education and sustainable practices.
At first, if seen from broad educational perspective, the EYLF principles are applied with their conventional perception intact. For example, development of cognitive skills in children is dependant over the fact how far they relate themselves with the learning environment structured around them. At the same time, this creation of the learning environment should have consistency and positivity towards holistic growth of young learners (Zutshi, Creed & Connelly, 2019).
