Define the concept as best as you can, based on available evidence right now. Then discuss factors that may explain why “cancel culture” is a trending term. Present a brief history of important instances of boycotting. Finally, present evidence that “cancel culture” is a new phenomenon, distinct from historical trends toward boycotting, and then present evidence that “cancel culture” is the same thing as boycotting. Conclude with a statement about whether you and your teammates believe that “cancel culture” is a new phenomenon, or is really an old phenomenon with a new label.
