Research Question: What is the role of communication in an effective project leadership?
Literature review
1. Introduction to concepts
Leadership
A method or action that enables an individual to lead a group of people or an organizat
ion is called leadership. The ability to influence or direct other people is a skill or ability. When recruiting new employees for the company, the next generation of leaders will need to be more critical. They will need to carefully select candidates who thrive on change and are accustomed to working in ambiguous settings (Pres Saputra, 2021). Leaders ought to provide feedback and support for training initiatives. It could be done through polls and regular sessions. By recognizing their learning, they should be supportive of learning environments.
Project
It can be explained as a series of tasks that need to be done in order to get a certain result. The Project Management Institute (PMI) defines "any temporary endeavour with a definite beginning and end" as a project. It is managed by a single person or hundreds, depending on its complexity and requirements. Every project has a set beginning and ending time during which the idea for the project is born, planned, carried out, and delivered. Projects are started to meet specific goals with the resources that are available. A project will be finished when the goal of the project has been achieved. The project life cycle depicts the various phases a project goes through from beginning to end. There are typically four phases to a project: (i) Initiation (ii) Planning (iii) Implementation and (iv) Closure
Communication
The Latin word "communication" means "to share." It involves exchanging information with other people. Ideas, concepts, imaginations, behaviours, and written content are all part of it. The simple definition of communication is the transfer of information from one location to another. There are many different ways to carry out this information transfer. The sender, a medium (the medium through which information is conveyed), and a recipient are the three essential components of communication (Koo, Anjam & Zaman, 2022). The sender is the most invested individual and fully comprehends the subject he wishes to convey.
Project Leadership
A project organization is project leadership. A project control comes from its competence. In a small project, it is represented by a project manager. This is done by a group of people or even several subproject managers on larger projects. to accomplish and implement the primary goal of project leadership: The following tasks must be completed to achieve and fulfill the project's goals: control over the time and resources, as well as management of the processes and resources; project organization; early detection of dangers; avoiding risks associated with the project; achieving project outcomes and customer satisfaction (Sauer, 2018).
2. Importance of communication
Since the Covid-19 outbreak forced many people to work remotely, effective communication is an essential tool for achieving productivity and maintaining strong working relationships at all organizational levels. Employee morale, output, and productivity will all rise as a result of employers who put in the time and effort to establish open lines of communication. In the meantime, employees who are able to communicate effectively with co-workers, managers, and customers are always valuable assets to an organization. This ability, on the other hand, is a skill that frequently distinguishes applicants from those who are competing for jobs. Employees who lack motivation and begin to doubt their own confidence in their abilities and the organization will inevitably result from poor workplace communication.
Building a strong team is really all about how well members of the team communicate and work together. Leaders can significantly contribute to the development of productive teams by putting into practice efficient methods for improving communication, such as the ones listed below. As a result, morale and satisfaction among employees will rise.
Gives everyone a chance to speak up: As previously stated, employee satisfaction can be heavily reliant on employees speaking up and being heard, whether it's about a suggestion they've made or a complaint they need to file. Everyone should be able to freely communicate with their co-workers, superiors, and peers through established channels of communication, regardless of their level.
Innovation: Employees are much more likely to bring their ideas to the table if they can freely express their thoughts without fear of ridicule or retaliation. This is very important for innovation, and an organization that fosters open lines of communication is much more likely to be innovative.
Growth: Communication can be viewed from both the inside and outside. Leaders have to ensure that the consistency of the message they are conveying to the outside world by being cohesive internally and maintaining open lines of communication (Amjad, 2018). Strong communication and the agreement of all stakeholders, internal and external, are essential to any growth project.
Management that is strong: Managers who are good communicators are better able to lead their teams. When...
