Reflective practice is an integral part of teaching practice and it highlighted in the AITSL standards, the EYLF and the NQS. As such, you need to understand what reflection is and how you utilise it to improve teaching practice. A model that is often used to scaffold reflection is the: What? So what? Now what? approach.

Effective reflection utilises all three of these levels to discuss and demonstrate understanding of content and an ability to review practice based on a wide knowledge base. This is what you will be asked to present for this assignment task – a reflective commentary that includes elements across these levels. You are asked to discuss the following quote:

Teaching efficacy
Introduction
Teaching efficacy plays an important role in education. The choice of methods to teach a particular subject plays an essential role in developing active learning. As new methods of teaching are recommended in USA for teaching math and science in the form of using constructivist and inquiry based learning approaches, it helps ensure that a
long with conceptual learning, problem solving skills and scientific inquiry are also developed. Teachers and educators play a crucial role in imparting education and choice of right methods to teach science and math helps them achieve effective education. Training is crucial in order to ensure that there is uniformity and that the quality of elementary education is maintained in USA. This paper reflects my experience and learning from the teaching course and teacher preparation and teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge training which enables me to focus on helping children learn problem solving, scientific inquiry and trajectories along with mathematical concepts.
What?
The course and learning
The course on mixed methods to teach math and science with a practical approach and focus on integrating problem solving skills, scientific inquiry and learning trajectories for the purpose of building better levels of learning has helped me gain new insight into teaching math and science. It has helped me learn how I can promote scientific inquiry among my students through different aspects of effective learning and building higher levels of efficacy in teaching math and science at the elementary levels (Swars, S., L. C. Hart, S. Z. Smith, M. Smith, and T. Tolar, 2007).
This course has helped me improve my approach towards teaching math and science to elementary students. It has helped me build a better understanding about how children can be helped to strengthen concepts along side a practical approach towards learning. It has also helped me understand how problem solving and other skills can enable children to grow into better thinkers with scientific inquiry rather than just accept facts.
What I did and how it differed from what was expected
Along with this course, I also researched STEM learning methods. Exploration shows that instructors' convictions assume an essential job by they way they decipher their academic information, how they conceptualize their showing errands and in this manner how they sanction their instructing choices. In spite of a past filled with change activities in basic science and arithmetic instructing, most basic instructors are not satisfactorily set up to educate science what's more, science, and they hold negative perspectives toward showing arithmetic and science.
Instructors should be upheld by pre-administration and in-administration proficient improvement programs, to expand levels of trust in educating science. Given the essential job early years instructors have in cultivating long lasting premium and inspirational perspectives towards science, supporting each other through setting up focus based or school-based learning networks over the early years is additionally a technique for teachers to consider. This course has helped me gain a lot of confidence in being able to teach subjects like math and science with a practical life approach. It has enabled me to build upon the concepts that I already know along with helping me learn how I can increase my subject knowledge (O’Connor, G., & Rosicka, C., 2020).
Reaction and reflection
This course has helped me understand how education can help students grow in terms of problem solving and several other practical life domains. The most important benefit or advantage of the structured form of teaching is that it helps maintain standardization and uniformity. This helps the creation of a well balanced form of teaching. Yet, this form of teaching lacks flexibility. It is important that students...
