Explain the macro-environment, how to analyze the macro-environment, and its importance to strategy development
The Macro-environment indicates an economic condition of an organisation. Macro-environment refers to that economic situation which prevails in the overall economy of a business. Macro-environment does not select any particular sector or region of an organisation. Generally, macro-environment includes the remote atmosphere of the organisation which affects in what way the organisation will perform, operate and make decisions (Ji, Li & Xia, 2020). Moreover, the macro-environment comprises inflation, GDP and fiscal policy. Being closely related to the overall business of the organisation, the macro-environment points out the inherent problems concerning the economy of the organisation.
Macro-environment being dynamic continuously tracks changes of the organisation. To analyse the macro-environment of an organisation the factors of the macro-environment which affect the organization need to be addressed. The factors are economic factors, demographic forces, technological factors, natural and physical forces, political and legal forces and social and cultural forces. Economic factors influence the organisation in two different aspects, namely, the extent of the production and the decision making process of the customers (Gari & Reddy, 2021). The demographic forces refer to the age, education level, cultural characteristics of the country, existing religion in the country and the lifestyle maintained by the citizens. Technological factors are those skills and capabilities of the organisation which are implemented in production. They have a big impact on how the business is running. Natural and physical forces are those aspects to which the organization has to comply with for sustenance. Political and legal are such forces which are required to take right decisions in operating the business strategies. Social and cultural forces refer to the social responsibility of the organisation which completes the organisation to eliminate any practice which is harmful to the society.
To innovate the business strategies the organization would have to keep in mind the factors affecting its sustenance. All the factors of the macro-environment affects invariably the production, taking decisions, buying raw materials and selling the productions. The organisation will have to abide by the directions shown by the factors in order to keep its existence.
