Executive Summary
In this article, it had been taught that the role of CEO and presidents in an organization are very much important and the articles highlights the way an influence process is carried out in terms of contemporary leadership. Furthermore, types of influence processes are also discussed and factors affecting leadership in the influence process is even been discussed. Additionally, the discussion is about three leaders, who are the Co-Founder and CEO of Netflix: Reed Hastings, Founder and Executive Chairperson of Amazon: Jeff Bezos as well as the Co-Founder of Google: Lawrence (Larry) Page, on the way the leaders affect the influence process. The three mentioned leaders' strengths and weaknesses is even been discussed and the key factors that affect the organization positively.
Introduction to the Concept of Influence Processes
To understand the process of influence in leadership first, let us discuss leadership. Leadership is a process whereby an individual leader or head influences other members of a group or team to work together to achieve the success of an organization. Therefore, influence is a key to a successful leader. A successful leader can influence their team to work for the benefit of an organization (Tien & Minh, 2019).
Influence follows the process of convincing other doing work by inspiring and guiding by leaders to accomplish their goal and consistently gain profit and develop the business. Many factors affect the leadership in the influence process and even there are many types of influence processes.
Role of Influence Process in Contemporary Leadership
Influence is all about influencing the emotions, opinions and behavior of an employee. Influence is a very important component of leadership as it is very difficult for building that type of environment, in which not only getting a goal is a motive but also there will be respect for everyone no matter what his or her role is in the organization.
The influence process directly affects the direct decision that provides leaders with the ability to influence the employees of an organization (Basri, Abd Rashid, Abashah & Samah, 2017). The leader can allocate the resources if an organization needs any resources. A leader can easily influence their employee’s by proving rewards to them and change the behavior of an employee.
Leaders can influence their employees with the use of their power to promote those leaders directly, who meet the need of an individual as well as organizational goals and achievements. Leaders can act as a role model to influence the employee of an organization because an employee will always follow a path a leader is following.
Type of Influence Processes and Factor Affecting Leadership in Influence Process
Influence is all about having interaction, reaction, action and attitude that has the potential to influence other people. There is mainly four types of influence, which an influencer possesses.
Negative Influence Process
These are those types of influencers, who are most damaging for themselves as well as for others. This type of influencer is egocentric and prideful (Gubanova, Mineva & Gadzhieva, 2021). They always want others to listen to them and their influence is bad for the people who are influenced.
Neutral Influence Process
These types of influencers are so lazy and irresponsible that they do not even think that they must influence or motivate others. The employees who are having these types of influencers need to get motivated by themselves because their leaders are not going do it. Leaders should always avoid negative and neutral influences (Gubanova et al., 2021).
Positive Influence Process
This type of leaders leaves the better and positive result on influencer and they add positive values into them. They also motivate their people and allow others to change their attitude and bring positive change in their behavior. These types of leaders have a high level of energy and effort.
Life-Changing Influence Process
This is a very valuable type of influencer and this type of leader need many years of experience to build this type of leading attitude. There are only many leaders, who have this type of leadership. Life-changing influencers are those who bring life-changing permanent positive change in other people’s lives.
