Patient compliance refers to the adherence of the patients towards the prescribed regime, which brings positive results for the health of the patients. Patient compliance is a degree where the patient strictly follows the routine as advised by a medical practitioner. From medicines to the diet, every move is decided by the medical practitioner and the patients have to follow it.
Patient compliance is essential as it helps in dealing with the patients in the correct manner (Bernhard et al., 2016). Adherence to medical advice is highly suggested and very necessary because patient compliance is entirely responsible for improving the health condition of the patients.
2. Healthcare Professionals’ Role in Compliance with Examples
Healthcare professionals play an essential role in patient compliance. The healthcare professionals have to guide the patients towards following the strict regime as prescribed by the doctors. Healthcare professionals maintain patient compliance through assistance and observation. The healthcare professional might be responsible towards the non-compliance as well because of their negligence and lack of cation (Bernhard et al., 2016).
