As you know, all is about delighting the guests at all times. It is not always easy due to the sophisticated demands of the guests who are aware of what is being offered by other hotels. As a result, they become more and more demanding. Pursuing your career in “Happy hotel” must be an exciting and rewarding experience. Being part of the team implies that you will have the responsibility of guests’ satisfaction. Your role will be to make them have memorable experiences at all times. For this to happen, all employees must work as a team and inter-departmental conflicts should be avoided.” You have asked them to reflect on their knowledge about the hotel’s operations and have asked them to write a report of 2000 words on the following, including at least 8 to 10 references in total: a) Write on the various responsibilities of each of these departments: rooms division, food and beverage, accounting, human resources, engineering, sales and catering. Various Responsibilities
Being a hotel consultant, there are various
responsibilities, which I need to address regarding the rooms division, food and beverage, accounting, human resources, engineering, sales and catering. Addressing such sectors appropriately will help to maintain the position of ‘Happy Hotel’ in the competitive business industry. The responsibilities are described below:
Rooms Division
The rooms division must be accurately done in a hotel for its smooth functioning. The areas of front desk, reception, housekeeping service, security service and guest service must all be separate for a smooth operation of check-ins and checkouts. The areas must be properly labelled for its identification and availability to the guests.
As mentioned by Habade (2021), an effective property management of the hotel helps in the rooms division and clear blueprint of the property. This not only helps the hotel to remain in the front position of the competitive market, but also helps to attract and retain the customers with its simple operation.
Food and Beverage
The food and beverages department in a hotel is the most important section as it relates to the health of the guests. A proper hygiene must be maintained in such departments and the best should be provided to the customers. Maintaining a sufficient food supply yet reducing the food waste is the responsibility, which must be addressed by me being a hotel consultant. According to Adel et al. (2021), the innovative strategies regarding reduction of food waste in hotels are addressed in different hotels in the present days to sustain in the competitive market. It draws the emotion of the customers and the proper management attracts them to select the particular hotel for their stay.
Accounting
The responsibility regarding the accounting is to properly assist in the budget of the hotel and add value to the business planning of the hotel. The accounts department must keep a track and record all the sales and profits of the hotel accurately, which will help in the budget production and reduces stated by Knezevic, Mitrovic and Cvetkovic (2019), the financial statement is important for a hotel, which must be handled by the accounts department through auditing. A clear auditing report will help in the financial risk assessment and management of the risks. This will increase the position of the hotel in the market with not negative records. Sustaining in the competition will make it to flourish in the business world.
Human Resources
