Introduction
In recent years, we have witnessed many cases of domestic violence against women in our society. It has been witnessed that the indigenous Australians are two to five times more likely to experience domestic violence than non-indigenous people are. However, many women from the New South Wales suffer from severe domestic violence. In this report, the discussion will be made with respect to the role played by me as a community service provider who is supporting an adult client who suffered domestic violence and help her seeking justice during the court proceedings.
Community Service Providers Role in Domestic Violence
In almost all cities, there are different kinds of community service agencies working in favour for helping the local people in different situations. According to Ries and Masfield (2018) have discussed regarding the roles and duties of a community service provider are to provide personal and social support, support for children and family cares, training, vocational rehabilitation and employment, financial and material assistance, corrective services and many more services those are provided by the community service providers. Further, the guidelines provided by government the service include providing services directly to the clients, funding non-government community-service providers, maintaining legislation and regulation and undertaking strategic planning along with monitoring and evaluation of community services.
Normally there are different parts of the community service, which looks after the domestic violence incidents. Ghafournia and Easteal (2018) have discussed that different teams of the structure who loom after the work are divided as:
· Safer Action Meetings team
· Principal Aboriginal Women’s Health Worker
· Community Domestic Violence Team
· Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Team
These team members will look after the cases of the domestic violence and these team members will handle the legal proceedings that will take place.
Role of Court in Domestic Violence
In the situation of domestic violence, court has a big role to play with respect to the proceedings.
