Introduction
Supply chain management and the operations management are the launching force in an organization to hold on its production and management facilities. The analysis focuses on how the supply chain management and the operations management becomes an integral part of the organization and instigates a path for solving real life problems. It facilitates how the effective research and knowledge in supply chain management fosters a relationship in achieving operational excellence. The ongoing trends in the operations management and supply chain management aims at solving the problems related to it locally or internationally. Both the management distinct aims on solving the problem related to the organisational effectiveness and analysing the situation to foster the growth of the company. Both the supply chain management and the operations management are interlinked with each other fostering the growth of the organization.
Literature Review and Reflection
In this essay the literature review and reflection is focused on three topics the topic describes the ideologies related to the supply chain management and the operations management and how both of these management functions go hand in hand. How these functional unit are commuted towards the fulfilment of the basic objectives of an organization. Supply chain management deals with the flow of good means from the initial stage to the final stage means from the raw materials to the finished goods whereas operations management eventually talks about administration of business activities to create the highest level of efficiency within the organization.
Topic 1: Contribution of Supply Chain Management in Operations Management
In the context of the topic that supply chain management is beneficial for operation management author (Al-Breiki, and Bicer, 2020) has stated the facts that supply chain management acts an integral part of the operations management and fosters the growth of the organization. Supply chain management deals with the contrary things being used in the operations management as the supply chain management eventually takes into account the full process of flow of goods from the raw materials to the finished goods and the work of operations management carries to take an account of the whole administration process within an organization. The author focuses on the fact that the supply chain management would be resulting in beneficial for the operations management as the supply chain management is considered as the sub part of the operations management as it is managed by the operations team a lot more function of SCM is taken into account by the operations team and a smooth flow of supply chain creates a smooth working in the operations team. The overall outcome of the performance of the supply chain works as a resultant outcome in the management of operations team and the schedule fixed by them (Cole, Stevenson and Aitken, 2019).
Findings
From the authors (Lee and Tang, 2018) the main findings related to the topic prescribe that the supply chain management is converged with the inclusion of several members who plays an important role in the channelizing of the supply chain operations. The main department indulged in the supply chain operations are the logistics department, transportation and shipment department and the distribution channel. The logistics department look at the raw materials and the initial stage product inventory they replicate the belongings that are in stock of the company’s inventory. The maintenance of logistics is required to meet the uneven increase in the demand of the products. The transportation and shipment are considered the main deciding factors as the goods manufactured and the order completed are sent to the deliverable place where the delivery is expected. The transportation and shipment are considered as the main variable as the goods are when delivered or shipped then they reach to their final point. The last and the most important step considered in the supply chain operations is the distribution channel. If the manufactured and shipped good are not distributed among the wholesaler or the retailer where it is expected to be the things did not converge at their final point. The synchronisation of all this deliverables is must in making a successful supply chain (Squire, Burgess, Singh and Koroglu, 2006).
Ongoing Trends and Latest Development
In the context of the topic the author (Jahre et al., 2016) goes on with the fact that the supply chain management is being overlooked and controlled by the supply chain manager of the organization, sometimes the necessary decision of the supply chain also come under the converging power of human resource manager. Though human resource manager is a particulate who overlook all the necessary steps aligning the organization towards the success. Taking in consideration the supply chain manager he was the main person who was assigned to carry on the works related to the supply chain manager he is the one who is assigned to carry on the supply chain operations both on national and international level. His work is to manage effectively all the supply chain operations from maintaining the inventory and logistics to the transportation and shipment and analysing the final distribution management of the finished product. Supply chain management is necessarily maintained with a clear focus and conception as maintaining the overall converge of the supply chain. The supply chain management is the base point of success of any organization which need to be maintained in accordance to the duties and work assigned by the organization (Jabbour, Song and Godinho Filho, 2020).
